What is Laryngectomy?

Laryngectomy

Laryngectomy is a surgical procedure for lifting the larynx or ballot box. The type of laryngectomy the patient needs will be determined according to his condition. There are two types, namely laryngectomy. Depending on the condition, the patient may require total laryngectomy (the entire larynx is removed) or partial laryngectomy (only part of the larynx is removed).

The larynx is divided into three parts:

- Glottis, where there is original vocal cords
- Supraglotis, the upper part of the glottis, starts from the epiglottis to the vocal cords.
Inside is a fake - aritenoid and vocal cords.
- Subglottis, or part under the glottis, beginning with the vocal cords and ending in the first
  tracheal ring.

One of the things that affect the determination of the stage of cancer and its treatment is the laryngeal part of the pain.
